Nourah’s Tissue Biobank Hosts Workshop on Tissue Banking Journey
Nourah’s Tissue Biobank, in collaboration with the Health Sciences Research Center (HSRC) Research Training Calendar, successfully conducted a specialized workshop titled “Tissue Banking Journey: Receiving, Processing, and Storage of Samples” on December 5, 2024. The event took place at the HSRC building and was led by Mr. Meshal M. Al Sharafa, a member of Nourah’s Tissue Biobank.
This workshop provided an in-depth overview of the tissue banking process, covering key stages such as sample reception, processing methodologies, storage protocols, and quality assurance measures. The session aimed to enhance the understanding and technical proficiency of researchers, laboratory professionals, and students involved in biobanking and biomedical research.
“Our goal with this workshop was to share essential knowledge on best practices in tissue banking, ensuring the integrity and viability of biological samples for research,” stated Mr. Meshal M. Al Sharafa. “Proper handling and storage are crucial for advancing scientific studies and improving healthcare outcomes.”
The event attracted participants from various disciplines, fostering an interactive learning environment with engaging discussions, hands-on demonstrations, and Q&A sessions. Through its collaboration with the HSRC Research Training Calendar, Nourah’s Tissue Biobank continues to play a pivotal role in capacity-building initiatives that strengthen research infrastructure and technical expertise.
This workshop is part of a broader effort by Nourah’s Tissue Biobank to facilitate knowledge-sharing and training opportunities, ensuring that researchers have access to state-of-the-art methodologies in biospecimen management and biobanking.
